STICKS AND STONES ADVENTURES

In 2012, Sticks and Stones Adventures began teaching Australian and international adventurers life long skills in the areas of bushcraft and wilderness survival and is now recognised as Victoria's leading bushcraft and survival school.

 

In 2016 Sticks and Stones Adventures were amalgamated with Ethical Adventures from the Northern Territory.  This has now paved the way for Top End adventures to begin in some of the most challenging environments on the planet. 

What is Bushcraft?

Bushcraft is about thriving in the natural environment and the acquisition of the skills and knowledge to do so.

Bushcraft skills include firecraft,trackinghuntingfishing, shelter-building, the use of tools such as knives and axes, foraging, hand-carving wood, and rope and twine-making, among others.

 

What is Wilderness Survival?

Wilderness Survival skills are basic necessities for human life: waterfoodshelter, to avoid possibly fatal interactions with animals and plants, and to cure any incurred injury or ailments. Survival skills are often basic ideas and abilities that ancients invented and used themselves for thousands of years.Outdoor activities such as hiking,backpacking,fishing,camping and hunting ,all require basic wilderness survival skills, especially in handling emergency situations. 

ROB WOODS
OWNER - INSTRUCTOR

Rob grew up on the Hay plains where he lived the typical country kids lifestyle until he left there for University and a life of adventure.

Over the next 15 years Rob completed a Bachelor of Engineering (natural resources) and Masters of Science (resource science).  During this time he also lived overseas for 6 years in Japan, Europe, America and China in roles as diverse as a semi pro cricket player, a whitewater rafting instructor, Padi Dive Master, English Teacher and a Youth Development Coordinator to name a few. 

Since then he has focused on Australia and the unique environments which exists here.  He has led extended safaris through the World Heritage deserts of central Australia, excursions along the majestic Great Ocean Road and Grampians and tours amongst the ancient tropical forests of the Daintree National Park.  Below water he has worked as a dive master on the Great Barrier Reef and Norfolk Island.  

Since 2009 Rob has called the NT home leading groups into West Arnhem Land, Kakadu, Litchfield and beyond.
 

TRACEY WOODS

OWNER - OPERATIONS ASSISTANT

Trace is definitely an outdoor girl. If she is not trying to catch dinner (fishing and crabbing) she is getting the torches ready to go for a night walk to see whats about.

She is a qualified personal fitness instructor who also holds a diploma in Tourism.  Both of which complement her dedication to helping people enjoy life in a fun healthy way.

 

Her passion for travel and diversity has seen her in roles such as a sea kayak guide in Portugal, walking tour guide along the Great Ocean Road and numerous other hospitality and guiding positions in places such as Fraser Island, Far North Qld, Central Australia, Victoria and the Top End.

 

Throw in an infectious smile and friendly positive personality and time spent with Trace is a time well spent.
